Do you find yourself in a place where you feel it’s not where you truly belong?

And you’re just there because it’s what you’re used to?

You’re used to working your 8-5 job. You’re used to not giving yourself the best opportunity to grow. You’re used to the habits that don’t lean in a good direction.

You’re used to not loving yourself.

Whether it’s physical or career-wise, most of us live life on autopilot where you’re going in one direction all the time. And if you’re not intentional in steering the wheel into the direction you want to go, then you don’t end up where you want to be. At the end of the day, what we all have is a limited lifespan. Therefore, what you do with that is so important.

Here are five steps to steering your wheel in the direction you want to take so you can truly experience joy.

1. Take the first step.

The first step is to make a decision. Decide to take your life back. Don’t wait 30 years to do the dream that’s been inside of you.

Being good at something is not the same as being passionate about it. But once you start releasing that dream and going for what you really want – like a flower, you bloom. Then life becomes beautiful because you’re finally fulfilling your purpose.

2. Be consistent.

Share your struggles but be sure to share how you’ve overcome them to inspire other people. Bring them along with you and keep them in the same place.

3. Show up every day.

Build the habit to show up every day. How you do one thing is how you do everything. If you want to have success in business, it’s going to be a lot of hard work. Whether you want to make $60, $600, $6,000, or $60,000 – you’ve got to show up!

4. Don’t delay.

Being good at something is not the same as being passionate about it. What is your dream? What is it that you’re passionate about? That dream is inside of you for a reason. Suppressing it for too long can actually lead to weight gain, or worse, depression.

5. Change your environment.

If you’re in a toxic environment, then you’ve got to get out. Change the environment so you can change yourself. This applies to your friends, relationships, and even the colors on your wall.

It starts with a decision of taking back your life. Whatever it is you’re wanting to change, it starts with a decision – not with a list of excuses why you can’t.

And once you find yourself going in the direction you want, keep going strong because the joy will be bubbling over!
